Event chains

42 Years and 3 Days is an anomaly event chain triggered by investigating the Debris Field anomaly that can appear on habitable worlds. It can only happen once per game. The outcome is selected when the initial event occurs.
Initial event[编辑 | 编辑源代码]
42 Years and 3 Days
A closer scan of the debris field around [anomaly planet name] has led to the discovery of an airtight capsule containing an atomic clock that measures time with unparalleled precision.
It has a frequency uncertainty so low that it will be another 879 million years before it gains a single second and it is counting down to a date 42 years and 3 days away. The capsule holds no clues as to what this date signifies or who the owners are. But it seems as though someone out there has lost track of the time...
Outcomes[编辑 | 编辑源代码]
If the first option was chosen then once precisely 42 years and 3 days pass since the initial event happens one of the following outcomes will take place:
Atomic Countdown
Researchers on [capital name] have eagerly anticipated the countdown of the mysterious atomic clock of prodigious precision found on [anomaly planet name] for the past 42 years and 3 days.
Several decades' worth of heated speculation and conjecture have evaporated in an instant: the clock has just now reached its momentous deadline, ejecting a stream of self-replicating nanites!
These nanites are streaming on a trajectory towards another planet in the [system name] System, [uninhabitable planet name], projected to arrive within the month.
Whatever may happen once they arrive remains to be seen...

Several decades' worth of heated speculation and conjecture have evaporated in an instant: the clock has just now reached its momentous deadline, ejecting a stream of self-replicating nanites!
These nanites left the surface of the asteroid, where they have coalesced into a fascinating, unmanned military vessel.
It is ours for the taking, should we so desire.

Several decades' worth of heated speculation and conjecture have evaporated in an instant: the clock has just now reached its momentous deadline, ejecting a stream of self-replicating nanites!
The nanites have constructed some manner of advanced computational network on the surface of [celestial body name]. The network is inactive, and seemingly devoid of any AI, the nanites having deactivated the instant its construction was complete.
Our researchers are somewhat baffled as to the purpose of the network. Studying it should keep them occupied for quite some time.
Atomic Countdown
For the past 42 years and 3 days, researchers on [capital name] have eagerly anticipated the countdown of the mysterious atomic clock of prodigious precision, found on [anomaly planet name].
Now several decades' worth of heated speculation and conjecture have evaporated in an instant, along with most of [primitive planet name].
As the clock reached its momentous deadline it transmitted a signal to a receiver on [primitive planet name], triggering a thermonuclear explosion of such devastating power it laid waste to the entire planet and the primitive society residing there.
While our scientists debate the reason behind this carefully timed act of annihilation, the atomic clock continues to tick, undisturbed by the desolation below.
