A Holding represents an area on a world that is owned by an empire other than the world's owner. There are two type of holdings: Overlord Holding and Branch Office.

Overlord Holdings

Overlord holdings can be constructed by overlords on their subjects' worlds. The number of holdings that can be constructed on each world is determined by the Holdings Limit term of agreement and certain resolutions. If a subject becomes independent all overlord holdings are destroyed.

Only one of each holding can be constructed on a particular world.

Branch Offices

Branch Offices can be constructed by empires with  企業政府（Corporate） authority and give the Corporate empire  能量幣（Energy Credits） equal to 50% of the world's  Trade Value, or 55% if the Corporate empire has the  自由商人（Free Traders） civic. Establishing a Branch Office costs 1000  能量幣（Energy Credits） and 50  影響力（Influence）, and increases the Corporate empire's  Empire Sprawl by 2. The cost can be reduced by -15% with the  寰宇貿易（Universal Transactions） ascension perk. Only one Branch Office can be opened on each world and they cannot be constructed on worlds of an empire with  企業政府（Corporate）,  蜂巢思維（Hive Mind） or  機械智能（Machine Intelligence） authority. To construct a Branch Office the corporate empire requires any of the following:

•  商業協議（Commercial Pact） with the system owner
•  聯邦（Federation） with the system owner
•  附屬公司（Subsidiary） system owner
• Same overlord
• Corporate Sovereign civic and the system owner is a member of the Galactic Imperium
• Imperial Charter resolution and the system owner is a member of the Galactic Imperium

Branch Offices can be closed by their Corporate owner at any time. If the  企業政府（Corporate） empire loses the status that allowed it to open a Branch Office the Branch Office will remain open but the world's owner will get the Expropriation casus belli.

Empires with the  罪犯世家（Criminal Heritage） civic can always establish a Branch Office but if they do not meet any of the usual requirements the world's owner will still get the Expropriation casus belli. If a Branch Office belonging to an empire with the  罪犯世家（Criminal Heritage） civic is open on a planet with 0 Crime there is a 5% chance that the Branch Office will be closed. The same empire cannot close another Branch Office for 10 years but the  罪犯世家（Criminal Heritage） empire will not be able to establish another Branch Office on the same world for 10 years either.

Up to 4 holdings can be built in a Branch office, each level of capital tier unlocking 1 holding slot.

Corporate holdings

Corporate holdings are mutually beneficial, giving a resource or empire-wide bonus to the Corporate empire and a planet-based bonus or jobs to the Branch Office world. They cannot be built by empires with the  罪犯世家（Criminal Heritage） civic.

Criminal holdings

Criminal holdings can only be constructed by empires with the  罪犯世家（Criminal Heritage） civic. In addition to the usual  能量幣（Energy Credits）, they generate additional value based on the world's  犯罪與異常（） value, ranging from 25% of trade with 0  犯罪與異常（） to 75% with 100  犯罪與異常（）. They have a different set of holdings that increases the world's  犯罪與異常（）.
