Master of Stellaris/Ethics

Ethics are the guiding principles of an empire and its people and determine an empire or pop's favored courses of action and responses to situations. Empires and individual populations don't always align ethically which can cause internal strife in large nations. AI species follow the same ethics rules and their behavior is heavily dependent on the ethics they follow. Naturally, a Militant Xenophobe alien empire will react very differently to the player than a Timid Xenophile. AI empires will, however, compromise on their ethics if circumstances are dire enough, for instance, if it is threatened by imminent conquest.

Every empire except Fallen Empires can have four either moderate or fanatic ethics, and a single Logic ethic. Fallen Empires have only one fanatic ethic and a Logic. Pops have only one moderate ethic each.

Empire Ethics[編輯 | 編輯原始碼]

Each empire has 9 Ethic points that can be spent on Ethics. Each moderate or fanatic ethic costs 2 points, and each of the three Logic ethics costs 1 point. Gestalt Consciousness is a special ethic for connected societies; it costs 4 points and requires either the 烏托邦 Utopia 烏托邦Utopia DLC or the 智械黎明故事包 Synthetic Dawn Story Pack 智械黎明故事包Synthetic Dawn Story Pack DLC. Fanatic ethics usually have twice the effect as a moderate ethic, but also usually get the opposing ethic effects as a malus.

Empire ethics have a profound effect on Unity during the game. If you take actions that go against your Empire's guiding ethics, it will incur a cost of Unity, while those in harmony with guiding ethics will reward Unity. In addition, diplomatic options with alien species are affected by ethics, as are some options for dealing with anomalies. As a result, ethics choices have a greater impact on game experience than the bonuses and maluses listed on this page.

Ethic Axes[編輯 | 編輯原始碼]

There are 9 ethical axes present:

  • The Logic axis determines which advanced logic system the Empire's scientific community bases their Advanced Scientific Method.
  • The Objectivity axis looks at how much emphasis the Empire places on reason over emotions, from Passionate to Detached.
  • The Tolerance axis looks at how tolerant of different species an Empire is, from Xenophobic to Xenophilic.
  • The Assertiveness axis looks at how assertive an Empire is in its actions, especially with other Empires. It ranges from Timid to Militant.
  • The Liberty axis looks at how centralized the Empire believes power should be held, and thus freedom of a citizen, from Totalitarian to Anarchic.
  • The Humility axis looks at how the Empire view their superiority over others, both as individuals and as a nation. It ranges from Arrogant to Humble.
  • The Trust axis looks at how much the Empire values truth in actions and communications, from Treacherous to Candid.
  • The Greed axis looks at how much the Empire seeks for wealth, from Charitable to Greedy.
  • The Collectivism axis looks at how much the Empire believes in the independence of an individual over the good of all society. It ranges from Independent to Harmonious.
