{{version|3.12}} '''Traits'''(特质) 代表一个[[species|species']](物种) 先天的功能、能力和个性。 一个物种的特质是在新游戏开始时选择的,但一个物种或一个物种一部分可以通过 [[genetic engineering]](基因修饰)或者稀有的 [[events]](事件)来改变或增加新的特质。 特质的影响遍布各种领域, 从 {{icon|pop growth speed}} 人口增长率到 {{icon|pop resource output}} 资源的产出再到{{iconify|leader lifespan}} 甚至是大众对彼此的态度。大部分特质都存在互相排斥的特质,例如 {{iconify|Nomadic}} and {{iconify|Sedentary}},同一时间一个物种模板只能存在一个类似特征。 这些特制包括相反的特制或者更强的特质(例如强壮和特别强壮)。 虽然游戏开始时,特质是在整体物种层面上修改,但是同一物种的人口可以通过基因修饰拥有的特质,产生新的亚种或者变体(注这里有歧义,不是指杂交的新物种,而是不同模版的亚种),无玩家干预很少发生。 在游戏开始时,特质大多数是固定的。 在游戏过程中改变特质通常只能在游戏后期通过一些事件的选择或者通过[[genetic
