A planet's suitability is determined by how temperate the climate is and the availability of freshwater. For most species, Continental and Ocean worlds offer the most habitability, while Arid or Arctic worlds offer the least habitability.
A planet's habitability (and subsequent future terraforming costs) is determined by its climate system. The nine habitable world types are divided equally into two climate rankings: from dry to wet climates, and frozen to hot average temperatures. Each class additionally supports a different likelihood of which planetary features and blockers will appear on them.
