The Tau Army is weak compared to other factions in the game. They wont be able to match the Imperium of Man on the ground in terms of firepower.
The Tau get access to both their Own Fire Warriors and Kroot and Vespid Allies. The pinnacle of the Tau ground force is 
the Broadside Battle suit and the riptide Battle suit. Cheap and effective the Tau can still put up a good fight. Note that Tau units are generally
quite cheap. 

==== Lore ==== 
The Tau Empire are one of the newer races of the galaxy and their ground forces are made up of members from the warrior Fire Caste. By the 41st millennium they became a power in their own right. However the Tau have always lacked s strong melee force meaning Tau armies tend to rip you apart from a distance. The Tau Military is advanced with state of the art battle suits
giving entire regiments a run for their money. Plus the Kroot eat you so be careful of that.
