== Branch Offices ==

Branch Offices can be constructed by empires with {{iconify|Corporate}} authority and give the Corporate empire {{iconify|Energy}} equal to 50% of the world's {{iconify|Trade Value}}, or 55% if the Corporate empire has the {{iconify|Free Traders}} civic. Establishing a Branch Office costs 1000 {{iconify|Energy Credits}} and 50 {{iconify|Influence}}, and increases the Corporate empire's {{iconify|Empire Sprawl}} by 2. The cost can be reduced by {{green|-15%}} with the {{iconify|Universal Transactions}} ascension perk. Only one Branch Office can be opened on each world and they cannot be constructed on worlds of an empire with {{iconify|Corporate}}, {{iconify|Hive Mind}} or {{iconify|Machine Intelligence}} authority. To construct a Branch Office the corporate empire requires any of the following:
* {{iconify|Commercial Pact}} with the system owner
* {{iconify|Federation}} with the system owner
* {{iconify|Subsidiary}} system owner

Branch Offices can be closed by their Corporate owner at any time. If the {{iconify|Corporate}} empire loses the status that allowed it to open a Branch Office the Branch Office will remain open but the world's owner will get the [[Warfare#Casus_Belli_and_Wargoals|Expropriation casus belli]].

Empires with the {{iconify|Criminal Heritage}} civic can always establish a Branch Office but if they do not meet any of the usual requirements the world's owner will still get the Expropriation casus belli. If a Branch Office belonging to an empire with the {{iconify|Criminal Heritage}} civic is open on a planet with {{green|0}} Crime there is a 5% chance that the Branch Office will be closed. The same empire cannot close another Branch Office for 10 years but the {{iconify|Criminal Heritage}} empire will not be able to establish another Branch Office on the same world for 10 years either.

Up to 4 holdings can be built in a Branch office, each level of capital tier unlocking 1 holding slot.

=== Corporate holdings ===
Corporate holdings are mutually beneficial, giving a resource or empire-wide bonus to the Corporate empire and a planet-based bonus or jobs to the Branch Office world. They cannot be built by empires with the {{iconify|Criminal Heritage}} civic.

Criminal holdings can only be constructed by empires with the {{iconify|Criminal Heritage}} civic. In addition to the usual {{iconify|Energy Credits}}, they generate additional value based on the world's {{iconify|Crime}} value, ranging from 25% of trade with 0 {{iconify|Crime}} to 75% with 100 {{iconify|Crime}}. They have a different set of holdings that increases the world's {{iconify|Crime}}.
